I've always liked your drawings

and I've told you that

"I love your drawings" I say

and you always seemed uncomfortable

I thought it was because you were modest

which I always found to be strange

because you shouldn't be modest about what you choose to do every day

you shouldn't be modest about your love

well I suppose you can be

but I don't think you're really like that

so I wondered why you would glance away

and not respond

and then I looked at your drawings again

on my own

and I mean really looked at your drawings

and then I begun to realize 

that all those funny people

and shapes

and things on the paper

weren't as ambiguous as I thought
and we're not so different after all
it's just harder to hide behind photographs.
